Organization
Avia College consists of three training units and a service unit which supports them. Operations are managed by the principal.
The Air Navigation Training Unit
* is responsible for the basic, advanced and
supplementary training of air traffic controllers, flight information
officers, air navigation officials and aviation information officers
*
arranges initiation courses and specialist training for air navigation
engineers and technicians
* organizes programmes for developing air
traffic service systems and training for simulator programmes for related
to changes in air space.
The training makes use of air traffic control simulators, which can be used to recreate various kinds of traffic situation, from normal conditions to serious emergencies.
The Airport Operations Training Unit
* trains maintenance and
rescue personnel for work at airports
* is responsible for the basic
training, refresher courses and supplementary and advanced tuition for
maintenance and rescue staff
* training is also provided for airforce
and municipal rescue crews working at or in the vicinity of airports.
The Personnel and Security Training Unit
* is responsible for
providing the further education necessary for augmenting the professional
skills of Finavia personnel
* organizes training in collaboration with
Finavia experts and outside consultants for instructors, financial and
personnel management staff, security inspectors and those working in
customer services and information technology or who require language skills
* offers help with curriculum planning as well as training organization
services.
The Unit’s instructional services are primarily oriented towards Finavia's staff.
The Support Services Unit
* is responsible for providing the necessary conditions for the operative
running of Avia College and for the development and improvement of
training activities
* takes care of joint training and hiring out of
facilities at Avia College
* coordinates development projects for
training activities
* is responsible for the financial and personnel
management of Avia College
* reports to the educational authorities
