Job Description

AIS officers work at the International NOTAM Office which is a part of the Aeronautical Information Services (AIS) of the Air Navigation Services Department of CAA.

The International NOTAM Office (NOF) is responsible for preparing and publishing NOTAM information concerning Finnish Flight Information Regions. In addition NOF collects up Aeronautical information from other countries to be used by international flights departing from Finland and operates a computerized AIS system for the production of Pre-flight information bulletins.

Training

The duration of the training for AIS Officer is aprx. one year and is undertaken by apprenticeship agreement. The training period is divided into theoretical and practical sections.

The main features of the theoretical sections are the same as for air traffic controller and flight information officer (AFIS) theory training. The theory also includes training in Aeronautical Information Services procedures. The main part of the practical training takes place at the International NOTAM offcie. After the theoretical and practical sessions, the student has to go through a special test.

Entry Requirements and Application

Training is arranged in accordance with the personnel requirements of Aeronautical Information Services.

In addition to the applicable basic education, applicants are required to have a good command of spoken and written Finnish and English as well as an aptitude for the tasks involved.

Familiarity with computer work and experience in aviation or air navigation services is regarded as an advantage.
