Rovaniemi  Airport - the official airport of Santa Claus

The Arctic Circle is where you'll find Santa and his elves when they want to come out of their secret places and meet people. The airport bears the Official Airport of Santa Claus trademark within the EU and several other countries. Santa's home is right next to the airport at Santa Claus Village.

The airport stands literally on the Arctic Circle, with the line of latitude running right through the airport grounds. Scheduled traffic to Rovaniemi is operated by Finnair and Blue1. In addition, some 800 charter operations serve the airport.  A total of 400,567 passengers used the airport in 2008.

Rovaniemi has been growing steadily in the last 10 years - long-term planning and high quality of the region's tourism trade services has made Rovaniemi the 4th largest airport in Finland. The main markets for tour operators are from United Kingdom, France, Italy and Spain. Growth potential exists thanks to the many infrastructural investments (hotel capacity, airport extention, ski resorts) to the region.
