New route to Kittilä strengthens Finavia’s Lapland Airports
The airports in northern Finland as well as the entire tourist area will receive a boost with the arrival of new routes, when Air Baltic increases its service offering next winter. The company is adding new services from Riga (Latvia) north to Kittilä, Rovaniemi and Kuusamo.
“Strengthening international air connections will further develop and improve the accessibility of tourist destinations in northern Finland,” says Finavia’s Sales Manager Thomas Kingelin.
“Currently, around half a million passengers a year arrive at one of the Lapland Airports. Of these, around 200,000 come from abroad.”
The six airports in northern Finland – Ivalo, Enontekiö, Kittilä, Rovaniemi, Kemi-Tornio, and Kuusamo – make up a tight network of airports known collectively as Lapland Airports. The aim of Finavia’s Lapland Airports is to increase the proportion of international passengers going to tourist destinations in northern Finland in cooperation with local actors.
