New flight services to Jyväskylä and a bus connection from the airport to the town centre
There will be an increased number of services from Helsinki to Jyväskylä as of mid-August. Finnair is launching two new daily services. In addition, transport connections from Jyväskylä Airport to Jyväskylä city centre will improve with the start-up of a new bus service.
Finnair is launching two new daily services from Helsinki to Jyväskylä in addition to its current two. The new afternoon services will start from 16 August and will operate daily except on Sundays.
The additional flights will enable passengers to make day trips between Helsinki and Jyväskylä. There is also a good connection to Jyväskylä from flights that have arrived in Helsinki.
Furthermore, the City of Jyväskylä is laying on a direct and rapid bus connection from the Travel Centre to Jyväskylä Airport in Tikkakoski and back, commencing on 16 August. Transport will be arranged for each departing and arriving flight.
“In this way we can ensure that passengers can connect smoothly from the airport to the city,” says Esa Kainulainen, Jyväskylä Airport Manager.
The bus journey will cost EUR 5 per passenger. The bus will leave for the airport from the Travel Centre from Hannikaisenkatu one hour before the plane’s departure. The bus from the airport will always leave once the aircraft has arrived and passengers have picked up their baggage.
At this stage, the bus service is a trial that will last until the end of the year. The city authorities will decide on whether to continue the service on the basis of the experiences gained in connection with drawing up next year’s budget.
