Updated at 11:50: ash persists over parts of Finland - according to the forecast, Helsinki Airport will open in the afternoon
Mariehamn, Rovaniemi, Kittilä, Ivalo and Enontekiö airports are open for the time being. Air traffic control services at all the other airports will be closed until at least 15:00, and no air traffic will be flying to them. However, terminal services at all airports are operating normally and in addition overflights over Finland can be flown today as normal.
According to the forecast, ash will persist over parts of Finland during the afternoon and will restrict air traffic, with the exception of the northernmost part of Finland. However, according to the latest forecast it will be possible to open Helsinki Airport, as well as those in Lappeenranta, Mariehamn, Savonlinna and Turku during the afternoon.
Flights undertaken by the authorities are covered by different regulations and they can be flown, where necessary.
Passengers are requested to contact their own airline, travel agency or tour operator to obtain information on the services that will be operated.
