Kajaani is Airport of the Year 2007
Finavia has chosen Kajaani as Airport of the Year for 2007. The selection took
into account such matters as the positive development in the operating result,
customer satisfaction and the work of supervisors.
The criteria for selecting the airport are made up of four factors that are
determined through a weighted point system. The selection criteria have been
determined so that all the airports have equal opportunities to be chosen.
One criterion that was examined instead of the operating margin was the operating result of the airports and its improvement compared with the previous year. Another criterion that was used was a comparison of customer satisfaction, which monitors both the general score for the airports and its development and the average of the averages of all the factors that are measured at the airports. The customer satisfaction surveys used were carried out during 2006?2007. The supervisor assessments carried out at the start of 2007 were also used in the selection criteria. The fourth criterion was the comparison of short absences due to sickness at the airports.
In addition to the four criteria that are measured, the selection used suggestions from two of Finavia's business units, which were based on their own operating experiences.
The airport was awarded a glass bird designed by Oiva Toikka and EUR 3,000 for joint recreational activities for the staff. The prize was collected by Veli-Pekka Pitkänen, the airport's manager, at Finavia's Management Day held today on Friday 30 November at Vantaa.
The airport of the year is now in its 17th year. The tradition was started in 1990 when the prize was given out by Finnair on the basis of its passenger surveys. This was the third time Finavia awarded the prize on the basis of its own criteria that more extensively assess the operations of the airports. Last year, the title of Airport of the Year went to Rovaniemi Airport.
