In Finland flight restrictions are valid until Monday April 19, 6 pm
April 18, 2 pm:
The volcanic ash plume continues to stay above Finland, so the flight restrictions are still valid until further notice. All flights to and from Finnish aiports are cancelled until Monday April 19, 6 pm.
According to Finnish Meteorological Institute the volcanic ash cloud will remain in Finlands airspace for several days.
In case your flight is cancelled, please contact your airline. Airlines ask passenger not to come to the airport.
Helsinki-Vantaa gate area will be closed. The terminal area before the security checks will remain open until further notice. Other finnish airports are closed until further notice.
Finavia will update the web site when more information is available.
April 17, 2.10 pm: Flight restrictions are valid until Sunday April 18, 3 pm
All the other airports are closed except Helsinki Airport. Helsinki Airport terminal area before the security checks will remain open for the time being. Terminal area (gate area) after the security control is closed.
Finavia provides blankets and a possibility to use a shower without a charge for passengers staying at the airport. There are also water points in terminals where passengers can have fresh water. Also, a free wireless internet is available at Helsinki Airport.
