Kruunupyy Airport upgrades its approach lights - New lighting system in operation from Sept. 4.
Kruunupyy Airport will have its upgraded lighting array for its primary approach direction properly adjusted in time for the autumn darkness. The old timber lighting pylons are being pulled down and replaced by glass fibre structures.
New norms, which are due in 2005, require the use of more lamps and in greater density, while pylons in the line of illumination have to be more easily breakable. Furthermore, the old illumination line is coming to the end of its technical service life.
The installation work which began at the beginning of summer is now gradually nearing completion. The section undergoing renewal consists of 178 lights with a combined power rating of 27 kW.
The project is being carried out by the Civil Aviation Administration’s airport technology department and Kruunupyy Airport. The earth moving work is being undertaken by AB DS-Team OY from Teerijärvi.
The total cost of the new approach lighting array, including earthwork, electrification, service road and supervision, will amount to €370 000, which will be paid entirely by the CAA.
