Finavia donates money to bring the spirit of Christmas to many

Christmas time is here, and Finavia donates money to several targets. A donation of toys to the Children's Clinic was made on 15 December 2010 together with Stella Group and other partners. A helicopter provided by Bel Air flew Santa Claus and his little helpers to the Children's Clinic at Meilahti, where they handed out toys and books for which the little patients had placed their wishes in advance.

Another project sponsored by Finavia this year is the Hyvä joulumieli (Christmas spirit) fundraiser to Finnish families with children and low funds, or who are in a difficult situation in life. The funds will be distributed to the families in the form of gift certificates they can use to buy food for Christmas. MediHeli is our third sponsored project.

Finavia is involved in several charities - especially at Christmas time, but also during the year. Last spring, Finavia's employees raised money by exercising. Finavia's exercise campaign, arranged for the third time in May 2010, once again followed a simple but effective concept: during May, the personnel registered all their exercise in a digital fitness journal, and one euro was donated to charity for each entry. The funds from the 2010 campaign, a total of €5,451, were distributed among Finland's SOS children's villages.

Helsinki Airport continues its year-round co-operation with Plan. Via Plan, air travellers and other visitors to the airport can donate to promote child welfare and health all over the world.

This year, like in the past, Finavia has decided not to purchase Christmas presents or greetings.
