Fluid restrictions on transit passengers arriving from the United States and Canada have been relaxed
Passengers will be able to carry liquids purchased at tax-free shops in Canadian and American international airports in their carry-on luggage, also on connecting flights.
According to a Finnish Transport Safety Agency Trafi press release, fluid
restrictions on passengers arriving from Canada and the United States and making
connecting flights to other areas of the EU have been relaxed. Passengers are
permitted to bring tax-free items purchased at airports mentioned below on
connecting flights within the EU:
- all international airports in the United States
- Calgary, Edmonton, Halifax, Montreal, Ottawa-Macdonald-Cartier, Toronto-Lester B. Pearson, Vancouver, and Winnipeg international airports as well as Moncton, Quebec, St. John's and Whitehorse airports.
This relaxation of restrictions is being made in accordance with Commission Regulations (EU) 133/2010 and 134/2010, which entered into force on 19 February 2010.
Other airports outside the EU which have relaxed restrictions on fluids purchased in tax-free shops are Singapore Chang Airport as well as Dubrovnik, Rijeka, Pula, Split, Zadar and Zagreb airports in Croatia.
All other airports outside the EU are still subject to fluid restrictions, so any fluid items, such as spirits, cosmetics and fragrances, purchased at these locations may not be carried aboard connecting flights destined for airports within the EU.
