Runway 1 at Helsinki Airport will be renovated between 11 May and 2 August 2015. Finavia has planned the flight schedules during the renovation in close cooperation with the airlines. However, delays and other changes in flight schedules are possible. Finavia recommends passengers to monitor the information provided by their airlines.

During the nearly three-month project, Runway 1 will be renovated and the crossing of Runways 1 and 2 will be renewed. Instead of the normal three runways, only two will be available for air traffic. Additionally, the use of Runway 2 will be restricted compared to the normal situation during the early stages of the project.

Changes to flight schedules possible – monitor the information provided by your airline

Finavia informed the airlines of the runway renovation project already in autumn 2014. At the same time, the company started planning the summer flight schedules in close cooperation with the airlines to ensure as smooth air traffic as possible also during the renovation.

The scheduling has been carried out largely according to the plans made in the autumn. However, delays and other changes in flight schedules are possible due to the rescheduling of the flights.

Finavia urges passengers to monitor the information provided by their airlines in case of possible changes to the schedules.

Changes to aircraft noise

Runway renovation alters aircraft noise in summer 2015. Due to the renovation project, aircraft noise may increase, for example, in northern Helsinki and Kerava.
