Ring rail line

A fast train connection to Helsinki Airport will be opened in 2014, after which passengers will be able to get to the airport from Tikkurila in just eight minutes. The rapid train connection will make it easy to travel between Helsinki and the airport. The fastest journey time from Helsinki will be around 30 minutes.

Construction of the line started at the beginning of 2009.

The new train connection will connect the main line north with the western Martkinlaakso line. Northbound travellers will be able to easily change from long-distance trains to trains for the ring rail line at Tikkurila.

The ring rail line will have four stations to begin with: Kivistö, Aviapolis, the airport and Leinelä.

The station at Helsinki Airport will be built underground in between the current domestic and international terminals. The construction work started at the beginning of 2009.
