Customs inspections and passport control
Only passengers travelling to or from a country outside the Schengen Agreement must pass through the Border Control before boarding the plane. The border office will check your valid passport and other travel documents required. See a list of the Schengen countries on the Finnish Border Control website.
- Although the border control is only performed if you are travelling outside the Schengen area, you are still required to have with you a valid travel document, such as a passport or an identitiy certificate issued by the police.
- Check in advance with your travel agent or the Finnish Foreign Ministry whether you will need a visa for the country you are visiting.
For more information on the import and export restrictions of your destination, see the Finnish Customs website. Check in advance the maximum value for a tariffless import.
- When arriving at Finland, international passengers pick up their baggage and pass through the customs.
- If you have items to declare, choose the red line. If you have nothing to declare, you can go through the green line or the blue EU line if you are arriving from a Eu country.
