Finavia supports charity flights

Finavia is supporting flights by Monarch Airlines that bring seriously ill children from Britain to Lapland for a visit. The flights arrive at Rovaniemi Airport, from where the children can experience the atmosphere of Christmas and meet Santa Claus.

The first flight by Monarch Airlines will arrive at Rovaniemi 8th of December. Christmas traffic to Lapland departing from elsewhere in Europe will increase from around this time until the New Year.

- We believe in the uniqueness of Lapland as a tourist destination and want to help to increase and develop air traffic to Finavia's airports in Lapland, says Thomas Kingelin, Finavia's Incoming Sales Manager.

The charity project is named "Wish-Upon-A-Star" and Finavia has supported these flights before.

The British airline Monarch Airlines has co-operated for years with local charities. In particular, the airline has supported two hospitals that care for seriously ill children.
