The Aviapolis project by the town of Vantaa, the CAA and a
number of building and property companies is proceeding as
planned. Aviapolis is a way for the CAA to exploit its land
holdings around Helsinki-Vantaa Airport whilst supporting
the activities of the local area, in line with goals laid
down by the government. Marketed as a modern airport city,
a number of investors have pumped more than a billion euros
into building the Aviapolis area in the past few years, creating
more than 10,000 new jobs.
Situated in the centre of Vantaa, the Aviapolis district stretches
south of the airport as far as Tammisto. Aviapolis is an opportunity
for companies operating on the international market to benefit
from closeness to the airport and the smooth transport connections.
Current building projects include Technopolis, a training
and testing facility for the electronics industry at Helsinki-
Vantaa, and the business advisory centre at Pakkala. Work
has also begun in connection with Vantaa’s Hitech scheme
for supporting international commercial and corporate activities
and skills.
The airport city also comprises the fast growing residential
areas of Kartanonkoski, Pakkala, Tammisto and Ylästö
and their nearby commercial services. Vantaa is investing
in school building and other services to keep up with the
rapid population growth.
