Dialogue in the Permit Process

In October, a committee of the Environment Ministry completed its report on the special issues relating to airport environmental permits. It recommended greater dialogue between airport operators and licensing authorities in order to obtain a better overall picture of safety aspects and environmental effects before assessing the need for permit regulations. The aircraft noise committee proposed that airport operators be asked for a noise control plan before a permit is considered. It was proposed that a separate report should always be requested from airport operators in regard to anti-skid agents if permit regulations concerning runoff waters are regarded as necessary.
