In approving the operating plan and budget
for the CAA, the Ministry of Transport and Communications
made it a condition that the CAA implement an environmental
scheme in line with the traffi c management industry action
plan. Since 2001 the environmental programme, which draws
on ISO 14001, has been used to create an operating model for
environmental management and has made it possible to begin
environmental reporting.
The data collection timetable was reviewed in 2003 to allow
for annual reporting within the account auditing timetable.
Following the expert assessment requested in the 2001 environmental
report, it was decided that partial verifi cation of CAA environmental
information should begin in respect of the report for 2004.
The aim of the CAA environmental scheme is to ensure constant
improvement of environmental protection standards. Aircraft
noise control, minimisation of populations in noise-affected
areas and the reduction of pollution from anti-skid and aircraft
de-icing agents are key elements in airport environmental
work.
