The
Joint Rescue Centre
A joint rescue centre run by the CAA and
the Central Uusimaa rescue service opened in spring 2003.
Besides the airport and local rescue services, it is also
used by the CAA’s Avia College for fire-fighting and
rescue training. The operational sections of the airport’s
rescue services continue to be based at the three fi re stations
next to the runways.
The new station allows a six minute response time for the
central Vantaa area. Furthermore, the resources of the Central
Uusimaa rescue services are ready to help out at the airport,
if necessary.
All Avia College field operations training is based at the
Rescue Centre. It has been possible to bring all the classrooms
and rescue equipment under one roof at the new facility.
The facility was built for and is owned by the CAA subsidiary
Lentoasemakiinteistöt Oyj.
