Report by the Board 2003

The Outlook For 2004

The decisive factor for the CAA’s business development in 2004 will be how well the new airlines that entered the market in 2003 perform. If no new carrier emerges to take the place of Flying Finn Airways Oy, which withdrew from the market at the beginning of the year, it would mean a reduction of passengers, at least in domestic traffic, of about 3 %. Overseas traffic, on the other hand, should continue to grow, assuming there are no surprises in the international situation. The CAA expects international traffic to expand by about 4 %.

The profit target set for the CAA in 2004 is € 7.9 million. If the economy grows as forecast and if there are no external events to hinder air traffic, the CAA has every prospect of meeting its profit target. The earnings estimate is lower than the result for 2003 because of higher wage levels, the full-scale operation of the third runway, further tightening of security inspections and because it was decided not to increase traffic charges in 2004 at all. We aim to keep service standards about the same as before. The earnings target corresponds to the general target set by the ministry of transport and communications for state-owned infrastructure enterprises.
