The Air Transport Authority is one of two official CAA
bodies and its responsibilities include taking care of international
aviation relations, numerous EU issues and matters related
to civil aviation security, its single largest portfolio
of responsibilities.
The Air Transport Authority prepares international air transport
agreements (known as air services agreements) and keeps
in touch with international aviation organisations. The
Air Transport Authority also grants international air transport
permits and authorisations and issues instructions and regulations
relating to its own branch.
Issues of air safety, on the other hand are handled by
the other official body of the Finnish CAA, the Flight Safety
Authority.
