The development of domestic air transport does not depend
on the CAA. As a commercial enterprise, however, we organise
our activities so that if demand should disappear completely
we can stop services at three airports in eastern Finland
and two small ones in western Finland, quickly if necessary,
either completely or in part. Of course it’s not the
aim of the CAA to hamper scheduled traffic through its own
actions but rather, as has surely been observed, to do everything
we can to retain flight connections.
In our own opinion, the CAA is one of those rare enterprises
that internally supports balanced regional development in
Finland – on the Robin Hood principle. If traffic
should cease for other reasons, there is no point in having
an airport either. Airports don’t fly.
