INVESTMENTS IN 2004
The state budget for 2004 gave authority for the CAA to
spend a total of 55 million euros on capital investments in
2004. In addition the CAA was authorised to make capital spending
commitments for future years to the total sum of 100 million
euros. In the first supplementary budget of 2004, the initial
investment authorisation was raised to 60 million euros.
Capital spending by the entire Group during 2004 amounted
to 52.2 million euros. Total capital spending by the CAA came
to 48.2 million euros. The most important capital investment
items were the basic repairs to Runway 2 at Helsinki-Vantaa
Airport and the expansion to its International terminal (facilities
for passengers travelling outside the Schengen area) and the
enlargement of the Jyväskylä Airport terminal. During
the review year the CAA reached an important stage in the
overhaul and integration of Finland’s air navigation
system, which has been going on for many years. This was the
introduction of the new Eurocat system at the Tampere Area
Control Centre in October. Earlier versions of the system
had previously been adopted at the Rovaniemi Area Control
Centre and at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport.
