The CAA pays close attention to the forces of change that
affect its operations, both in the air transport market
and the society around it. As a commercial enterprise we
revised our strategy during the review year so as to be
better able to meet the challenges and expectations posed
by the airlines, passengers, the environment, technology
and other issues that it faces.
Whilst reviewing our strategy we paid careful attention
to the constantly changing needs and operations of the airlines,
their profitability problems and the growing importance
of the low cost companies and point-to-point connections,
among other things. We especially examined the growth of
the Asian economy as a financial factor.
The international spread of environmental matters and environmental
legislation are topical issues which increasingly affect
the activities of the CAA. The increasing liberalisation
of air transport as well as the internationalisation of
air navigation services along with EU guidance are also
forces for change.
In accordance with its strategy the CAA seeks active growth
for air travel by promoting diversity in the aviation market
and by keeping its own charges low and its services fluent.
At the same time the CAA actively seeks new cost effective
operating models.
The renewed strategy places emphasis on the positive customer
experience, whilst we regard air travel which runs effortlessly
from the passenger’s point of view, as particularly
important.
