AIRPRO DEVELOPS AIRPORT SERVICES
The CAA’s subsidiary, Airpro Oy, has now had more than ten years’ experience in planning and developing services at airports and passenger terminals that relate to the various links in the travel chain. Established in 16 localities across Finland, the company is specialised in developing cost-effective working methods.
Airpro has four business units; Handling, Services, Security and Travel, which altogether employ about 300 permanent and more than 160 hourly staff. In 2005 Airpro’s turnover amounted to more than 16 million euros. The Civil Aviation Administration owns 100 per cent of the company’s shares.
Airpro Oy is responsible for the activities of Finland’s only true budget airline operations, which it developed itself at Tampere-Pirkkala Airport’s Terminal 2. The company has also been an essential pioneer in developing the Christmas charter operations in Lapland. Airpro has also been responsible for ensuring that the necessary services are available to allow airlines to operate at the low density airports of Eastern Finland.
In September 2005, assistant director Jarmo Nyholm was nominated Airpro’s temporary managing director following the death in a helicopter accident of his predecessor, Jarkko Varjo.
