IT SERVICES CONCENTRATED

During 2005, the CAA’s IT services were reorganised into a single data and communications technology services unit called TIVI. The aim was to clarify operations and concentrate services and skills into one internal service division. At the same time, operational support services were also improved.

The new unit was created when the Helsinki-Vantaa Airport IT unit was combined with the head office data management office. “We are a support operation where all the IT services are concentrated and where people come for help with all their computer problems,” said IT chief Eeva Björklund.

The unit’s most important teams cover data traffic, servers and workstations, expert services, user rights management and projects and remote user services. Every computer user at the CAA is a potential TIVI customer. They can get help over the phone, by e-mail or by filling in a new web form. Using the form enters the service request into the system. All the contact information is concentrated at one point and then passed on straight to the right data and communications technology expert.

“Concentration makes us more effective,” said Eeva Björklund. “When we are better able to help our own internal clients it always shows to the benefit of all the customers of the CAA.”
