HELSINKI-VANTAA AGAIN VOTED AMONG WORLD’S BEST
Passengers voted Helsinki-Vantaa the best airport in the world in its size class and the second best airport in Europe. This emerged from an extensive, worldwide AETRA customer satisfaction survey carried out in conjunction with the international airports association, and the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
The survey asked passengers to assess airports according to a list of 31 criteria. These included such matters as overall pleasantness, politeness of staff, information signs, cleanliness of terminal areas, smoothness of security inspections, shopping and eating arrangements and the impression of security. The survey was conducted in 2004 at forty participating airports, and 65 000 passengers were interviewed.
Helsinki-Vantaa Airport was chosen as being among the world’s best for the fifth time. Previously it has been voted once as the world’s best (IATA 1998), twice as Europe’s best (IATA 1997 and 2000) and three times as best in its own size class (IATA 1999 and 2000, AETRA 2004). Helsinki-Vantaa was not included in the survey between 2001–2003.
