CAPITAL SPENDING 2005

In the government budget for 2005 the CAA was granted the right to make capital investments totalling 60 million euros during 2005. In addition the CAA was granted authority to make capital spending commitments which will result in outgoings over the next few years amounting to 100 million euros.

Capital spending by the CAA totalled 48.2 million euros. The CAA used its capital spending primarily to maintain the standard of its existing fixed assets. The most important replacement investment was the complete overhaul of Runway 1 at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport (11.0 million euros), which was completed in October. Renewal of the air navigation system cost 5.5 million euros. Traffic flow was improved with the construction of new taxiways (2.9 million euros) and apron enlargements (5.1 million euros) at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport.

The expansion of the Kittilä Airport terminal, completed at the end of November, was carried out in conjunction with the regional employment promotion (TE) centre (4.3 million euros). The CAA spent 1.9 million euros in 2005 on passenger and airport safety and security equipment and structures.

Capital spending for the entire Group in 2005 amounted to 62.7 million euros. Capital investment by IP-kiinteistöt Oy for defence administration needs came to 10.0 million euros. Lentoasemakiinteistöt Oyj made capital investments of 4.5 million euros, of which the largest went on a ground equipment hall for a ground dispatch company.
