CHINA, JAPAN AND THAILAND WERE LONG-HAUL FAVOURITES
Asia continued to gain in popularity as an international long distance destination. It was visited by 355 000 passengers, which was 12 per cent more than in 2004. The most passengers to Asian destinations went to China (+16 %) and Thailand (+13 %). But the relatively biggest increases in popularity were to Brazil (+117 %), The Dominican Republic (+100 %) and Tunisia (+49 %). In terms of passenger numbers, the highest growth was to places in China, Japan and Thailand.
The relatively fastest risers in Europe were Romania (+115 %), Latvia (+65 %) and Croatia (+63 %). Scheduled flights took passengers mostly to Sweden (+4 %), Germany (+3 %) and Denmark (+15 %). Charter passengers flew mostly to the Canary Islands (+3 %), Greece (–8 %) and Bulgaria (+41 %).
