WEB LEARNING INCREASES AT AVIA COLLEGE
There has been an enormous increase in the use of the Internet for teaching at the CAA’s special aviation teaching facility, Avia College. For example, the year saw the introduction of computer aided identity card training and a computer assisted picture interpretation program. Since spring 2005 it has been possible to take the European Computer Driving Licence examination (ECDL), or part of it, at Avia College.
An air traffic control simulator was developed for training in the air navigation branch. A new 3-D tower simulator with plasma screen display was purchased, to work alongside the old simulator. Visual imaging computers were installed in the old 360 degree tower simulator and a new version of a computer program was acquired for the communication system. Also, the entire simulator received an updated program version at the end of the year.
