CHARTING ENVIRONMENTAL RISKS

Systematic charting of environmental damage risks began at Oulu and Kuopio airports. The risks inherent in anomalies in the storage and treatment of fuels, antiskid agents and de-icing agents are described so that effective plans can be made for reducing them. These surveys will be gradually extended to cover all airports. Two separate areas of polluted land were rehabilitated at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport. The cost of cleaning up an area used as a rubbish dump by a previous landowner came to 0.9 million euros.
