Safety as a starting point for operations
The Civil Aviation Administration Finavia creates the basis for the competitiveness of Finnish industry and commerce. Finland is geographically isolated and can play a role on the world stage only through air traffic.
Finavia provides internationally competitive airport and air navigation services and business operations that support them. In relation to its population, Finland has one of the world’s most dense networks of airports. Thanks to good air connections, Finns can participate in the globalised world.
BASIC TASKS
Finavia’s basic task is to use air traffic services and infrastructure to create the key foundations for the competitiveness of Finnish society and its various areas, Finland’s internationalisation and the mobility of Finns. Finavia’s customers are airlines, air passengers, military aviation and trade and industry operating domestically and globally.Finavia is a state-owned enterprise that is funded by its users and wholly owned by the Finnish State. The Government sets Finavia’s annual operational and profit targets.
Finavia’s network of airports includes 25 airports. Finavia Group has about 2,500 employees.

Finavia’s strategy is to respond to the strong growth in gateway traffic, the globalisation of industry and commerce and the increasing need for mobility by people and products, the rising demands for costeffi ciency and the service needs of air traffic in various parts of Finland. Finavia wants to be globally competitive. This means that Finavia must achieve the best European quality and efficiency in all its operations.BUSINESS OPERATIONS
Finavia achieves its objectives by means of the five key business areas included in the strategy:
The Airport Operations is responsible for the development and smooth running of airport processes, infrastructure and providing services that meet demand.
The Air Navigation Operations is responsible for controlling the use of Finnish airspace and providing air navigation services at Finavia’s airports. The operations aim at the provisioning of safe, smooth, undelayed and cost-efficient services.
The Commercial Operations responsibilities include the leasing of business premises, shop and restaurant operations, parking services and renting of advertising space.
Airpro Oy is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Finavia Group which provides and develops versatile ground and passenger services at all Finnish airports for both domestic and foreign airlines. Airpro also provides security services for air traffic.
The Real Estate Operations is composed of LAK – Lentoasema kiinteistöt Oyj and IPkiinteistöt Oy. LAK Oyj leases premises mainly for companies that operate in, or utilise, air traffic and develops land areas owned by Finavia Group. IP-Kiinteistöt Oy is responsible for maintaining the buildings and constructions located at airports used by the Finnish Defence Forces.
