Wide-ranging services for air traffic customers
Finavia’s subsidiaries Airpro Oy and LAK – Lentoasemakiinteistöt Oyj offer customer-oriented and competitive services in their own sectors.
AIRPRO OY
Finavia’s subsidiary Airpro is a uniquely versatile company. Airpro Oy’s customers are airlines and airports. Airpro develops and provides traffic, airport and travel services for travel and tourism companies and directly for passengers.Airpro’s turnover in the 2007 accounting period was EUR 25.6 million (23.6). Growth from the previous year was 8.4 per cent (45). The company posted profit of EUR 0.4 million (0.5).
Airpro has about 700 employees, half of whom are permanent and half part-time. The personnel’s strength is their mastery of multiple skills, thanks to which various tasks that must be done at airports are taken care of well – whether it is a question of security checks, check-in or maintenance. The company’s personnel also include cabin crew. Many airlines, particularly foreign chartered airlines, purchase the cabin crew services of their fl ights to Finland from Airpro.
Airpro has three business areas, Handling, Security and Services. Airlines are the customers of the Handling business area. They are provided with all of the services that an airline and aircraft need when an aircraft lands and prepares for a new fl ight. The Security business area handles the security of passengers, luggage and personnel at airports in Finland.
At Helsinki-Vantaa Airport, Airpro handles bus services at aprons, maintenance, fire and rescue services, information desks and the Travel Point service point that is open 24/7. Airpro is also responsible for the operations of terminal 2 at Tampere- Pirkkala Airport, for example, and thus creates the framework for the business concept of discount airlines. Airpro also provides the services needed by the numerous charter fl ights to Northern Finland.
LAK – LENTOASEMAKIINTEISTÖT OYJ
LAK – Lentoasemakiinteistöt Oyj is a real estate investment company owned by Finavia, which develops various construction projects and owns buildings. LAK’s customers include airlines, catering, ground service and air cargo companies, as well as companies that rely on passenger traffic such as hotels and office services. LAK’s turnover in the 2007 accounting period increased to EUR 8.0 million (7.1). The company posted a slight profit (0.010). The company’s balance sheet total on 31 December 2007 was EUR 81.9 million (70.2).LAK develops the airport area in response to commercial demand. The most important area is Aviapolis, which is located around Helsinki-Vantaa Airport. Investing in real estate is a long-term business; LAK’s leases range from three months to 20 years. LAK does not carry out real estate operations that are not connected to air traffic. The Hilton Helsinki-Vantaa Airport hotel owned by LAK is Finland’s first airport hotel. It was opened in August 2007 and the hotel is now fully operational. The investment was completed according to budget, which was EUR 30.5 million.
