Tuulenpoika (Son of the wind) was originally designed for Varkaus Airport, but is now part of Helsinki Airport’s art collection. This piece of art by Finnish sculptor Taru Mäntylä reflects the elements related to flying and freedom.
The sculpture is made out of bronze and displays a young man rising above with his hands turning into wings covered in feathers. According to the artist the work reflects human’s desire to win gravity and rise to the heights.
Tuulepoika sculpture is located in the security control in T2 upstairs.
