Testing of passengers arriving in Finland
Covid-documents, such as vaccine and Covid-test documents are currently checked from many arriving passengers. Passengers who don't have a certificate of a negative Covid-19 result or a certificate of a Covid-19 vaccination are directed to a free of charge Covid-19 test at the airport. City of Vantaa in co-operation with Hospital District of Helsinki and Uusimaa HUS is responsible of the Covid-19 testing activities.
Even if you are not directed to a Covid document checkpoint at Helsinki Airport, you may get tested for COVID-19 free of charge. The testing point is at the gate area, which means the test must be taken before going to baggage claim and arrivals halls. The testing is organized by the City of Vantaa.
Passengers can also use Finentry service before arriving in Finland. The service is provided by the Hospital District of Helsinki and Uusimaa. Finentry is a digital service that makes it easier to travel to Finland and manage the coronavirus testing that may be required for entry. You can also book a Covid-19 test via Finentry.
We recommend that when you are arriving in Finland, you have a certificate of negative Covid-19 test taken no earlier than 72 hours before arrival or a certificate of a Covid-19 vaccination. Check the certificate requirements from your airline.
COVID-19 tests when travelling abroad and before boarding connecting flights
Remember to check the entry and quarantine regulations, e.g. the need for certificate of negative Covid-19 test or recovery from Covid-19 or proof of Covid-19 vaccination from the authorities of the country of destination. Some countries require certificate of negative Covid-19 test from both PCR and Antigen tests. Some airlines also require a printed certificate of negative Covid-19 test in a language specified by the country of destination.
Aava Medical Center operates at Helsinki Airport and its services include Covid-19 testing. Please contact Aava Medical Center to get more information about the services (for example PCR and Antigen testing) before coming at the airport.
There are also other private sector service providers active in the vicinity of the airport that provide COVID-19 testing services, such as health service provider 9Lives. The covid-19 testing site is located at the end of Terminal 1.
Airlines are responsible for the testing activities of transfer passengers going to China, so passengers should contact their airline to get more information about the testing. Read more about the testing requirements for transfer passengers heading to China on the website of the Chinese Embassy.
