Finavia’s Helsinki Airport continues to grow in popularity. Helsinki Airport was chosen by Condé Nast Traveller readers as the 9th best airport in the world.

Over 300,000 readers participated in the survey, with millions of reviews submitted on various travel operators, such as airports and airlines.

– It’s fantastic to hear that our passengers are happy with the airport and its services. We have worked very hard to make the travelling experience through Helsinki Airport as easy and as comfortable as possible. Despite our excellent ranking, we continue to develop and improve our airport services. Our aim is to be on even more passengers’ list of favourites, says Finavia’s Helsinki Airport director Ville Haapasaari.

The top three spots went to Singapore, Seoul and Doha, all of which are well connected to Helsinki Airport. The top three airlines, according to the survey, were Singapore Airlines, Emirates and Air New Zealand.

Awards and recognitions of Helsinki Airport

International accolades for Helsinki Airport

Finavia and Helsinki Airport have received top marks in many recent surveys.

For example, according to the survey issued by ACI Europe in the summer, the significance of Helsinki Airport as a hub for international air traffic is greater than that of any other Nordic airport.

In spring, Helsinki Airport was recognised as the best airport in Northern Europe in the international airport survey conducted by Skytrax.

A WEF report states that Finavia’s entire airport network is the fifth best in the world and overwhelmingly best in the Nordics.

Extensive development programme for 2020

Finavia’s development programme for expanding Helsinki Airport was launched in 2013. Its objective is to strengthen the position of Helsinki Airport among international airports and as an important hub between Europe and Asia.

The airport expansion will make it possible to serve 20 million passengers in 2020. Helsinki Airport's strengths include short transit times, friendly staff and innovative world-class services.
