Finavia, Reaktor and Lego are organizing a Code School event for the first time at Helsinki Airport during one of the busiest travelling weekends this autumn. In the Code School, kids aged 7-12 can learn how to move and operate two Lego robots.

Code school is built on the basics of coding in a fun and playful way. Children aged 7-12 years have therefore the possibility to familiarize with technology. Coding is learned in Reaktor’s and Lego’s joint Code School concept, where the child directs two robots, Vernie and Rover, via an application to carry out simple tasks. Code school is open from Friday to Sunday 12-14.October at 2-4 pm in the Kainuu Lounge near gate 31 at Helsinki Airport’s Schengen area. Code school can intake maximum 15 kids at a time, one session lasts about 15 minutes depending on the child’s interest. Parents need to be present during the code school session.

- We are thrilled to host the Code School event for first time here at Helsinki Airport. Many families are flying this weekend and have the possibility to come and learn coding. Essential part of developing our customer experience is to try new things, that can make families enjoy their time with us even more, says Johanna Laakso, Head of Passenger Experience Development of Helsinki Airport, Finavia.

- Technology is more and more being included into our everyday life, but still there’s a lot of mystery around it. One effective way to unravel the mystery is to affect the knowledge early on. This is the reason we wish to offer children the possibility to try out coding in a funny and inspiring way. Reaktor has partnered with Lego, who has been teaching children via playing for decades. Reaktor started the code school movement in 2014, and so far hundreds of children around the world have had the chance to code. We are very thrilled of our joint venture, says Design Director Marjo Mansén from Reaktor.

The weekend of 12-14. October is very busy at Helsinki Airport - please reserve enough time at the airport, especially if you want to join Code school – you are warmly welcome!
