Mika Järvinen has been appointed airport manager of Jyväskylä Airport, effective from 1 August 2019. Järvinen is transferring to Jyväskylä from his position as manager of apron operations at Helsinki Airport. The current manager of Jyväskylä Airport, Esa Kainulainen, retires at the end of August.

Mika Järvinen has an impressive background in airport processes and cooperation with different stakeholders. Amongst other duties, he has overseen the planning of aircraft parking and the coordination of ramp functions at Helsinki Airport.

“Mika has extensive experience in operational management, and I warmly welcome him to the team at Jyväskylä Airport to develop our field operations together with our customers and partners”, says Mari Nurminen, vice president for central Finland airports at Finavia.

Jyväskylä Airport serves approximately 70,000 passengers a year. In addition to functioning as a connection to Helsinki Airport, the airport also operates direct flights to various southern holiday destinations. The military aviation sector brings a significant amount of additional air traffic to the airport, due to the nearby location of the Air Force Academy of the Finnish Air Force.
