The new Terminal 2 extension of Helsinki Airport will open to passengers tomorrow, Wednesday 1 December. On the opening day, passengers travelling through the airport will be greeted with small festivities in the departures and arrivals halls, as well as with offers in new restaurants, shops and services opening their doors on the same day. Before the opening of the new terminal, it is a good idea to prepare for route changes at the airport.

On the opening day, the renewed Terminal 2 will open to passengers departing for morning flights at approximately 6:30 a.m. Finavia’s staff will welcome the first passengers in the brand new departures hall. During the day, departures will be accompanied by a live band, and passengers will be greeted with small festivities.

In the early morning, many restaurants and cafes in the new arrivals hall, versatile services and a new parking hall will open as well. Restaurants and cafes opening their doors include Burger King, Espresso House, Helsinki Market, Runway Bar and Subway. In addition, passengers will be served by R-kioskis, Excess Baggage and Forex. The new parking hall has two areas: P1 Premium and P2, both of which provide direct access to Terminal 2 by lift. Finavia’s other parking areas are open as usual.

Be prepared for route changes at the airport

The opening of the new terminal extension is preceded by a carefully scheduled process of linking the routes of the extension of Terminal 2 and the current terminal. The preparations will begin on Tuesday 30 November at approximately 6 p.m. During the following 12 hours, Finavia’s employees will open and close dozens of doors and routes and change hundreds of signs and instructions to make everything ready for the first passengers in the morning. Due to the changing routes, it is a good idea to arrive at the airport well in advance. Finavia’s customer service personnel and terminal guides will be there to guide passengers.
