Helsinki Airport’s Terminal 2, the home of GLO Hotel Airport, is being expanded and updated. Due to the extensive construction work being carried out in the terminal, the hotel will be temporarily closed between 1 April and 30 April 2020. The hotel will reopen on 1 May 2020.

GLO Hotel Airport wants to ensure the comfort of its guests and provide safe working conditions to its employees during the renovation. For this reason, all of GLO Hotel Airport will be closed for April 2020. Due to changes made to the lobby, the hotel’s Journey meeting room and the hotel gym will no longer be available starting from April 2020.

The hotel will reopen on 1 May 2020. GLO Hotel Airport will continue to be the only hotel inside Helsinki Airport. The hotel is located right next to the departure gates.

The Helsinki Airport Development Programme is an investment of over EUR 1 billion

Helsinki Airport is in the middle of the largest expansion project in its history. The current development programme aims to enable the airport to serve up to 30 million passengers a year.

Until now, expansion work has focused on the non-Schengen area. The new additions to this area include the South and West Piers, a new security control area and a baggage handling centre as well as new commercial premises and waiting areas. In addition, Terminal 1 has also been expanded, and its interior has been upgraded.

In 2020, a new parking garage with 1,800 parking spaces will open in front of Terminal 2. Solar panels will be installed on the exterior walls of the parking garage. Inside the parking garage, there will be dozens of charging points for electric cars.

The extension of Terminal 2, which is currently in progress and affects the operations of GLO Hotel Airport, will significantly increase the amount of terminal space available for check-in, security control and baggage drop operations. The current arrivals and departure halls will be renovated and, following this renovation, connected to the gate area reserved for flights to and from Europe.
