Transport connections to and from Helsinki Airport

Helsinki Airport offers excellent connections throughout the Helsinki metropolitan area and the rest of Finland. When you arrive at the airport, you can easily reach the terminal entrance by car, train, taxi, bus or bicycle.

Helsinki Airport is located 20 kilometres from Helsinki city centre. The journey takes around 30 minutes by train or car, and approximately 40–50 minutes by bus.

Parking

Helsinki Airport offers several parking areas. Secure your spot by booking your parking in advance. Here you can find the parking options closest to your gate, electric vehicle charging stations, and short-term parking, as well as additional information about parking with a disabled parking permit.

Car Rentals

Several car rental companies operate at Helsinki Airport, with service desks located in the arrivals hall, right in front of the parking information point. You can reserve a car in advance through the rental company’s website or by calling them directly. Read more about car rental services.

Trains

The train station is located directly beneath the terminal. There is a direct connection to both the arrivals and departures halls via elevators and escalators.

The P and I trains operate between the airport and Helsinki city centre. The journey takes approximately 30 minutes. Tickets can be purchased via the HSL mobile app or from the ticket machine on the station platform. Timetables and fares are available on the HSL website.

Travel between Helsinki Airport and the rest of Finland is easy with a single train ticket. The easiest transfer points to the airport trains (I and P) are at Tikkurila and Pasila stations. Read more about long-distance timetables and fares on VR’s website.

Buses

The bus station is located in front of the terminal at the arrivals level.

HSL trunk line 600 operates between the airport and Helsinki city centre. The journey takes approximately 40 minutes. Tickets can be purchased via the HSL mobile app or from the ticket machine on the platform area at the airport. More information is available on the HSL website.

Several long-distance buses serve the airport from various parts of Finland, including Turku, Tampere and Lahti. Timetables and fares can be found on the Matkahuolto website.

Taxis

Taxis drop off departing passengers directly in front of the terminal’s main entrance, which provides access to the check-in area.

Arriving passengers are served by the taxi station located on the arrivals level. Taxis are available around the clock. The taxi station has four lanes, allowing passengers to choose the taxi that best suits their needs.

The contract taxi operators at Helsinki Airport—FixuTaxi, Taksi Helsinki, Menevä Taxi and Lähitaksi—operate on these lanes 24/7. Taxi prices are displayed at the taxi station.

Bikes

The airport’s bicycle parking area is located at Lentäjäntie 1, Vantaa, directly opposite this street address on the arrivals level in front of the terminal. Bicycle parking at the airport is free of charge.

The bike park is covered. Bicycles can be locked by the frame to sturdy racks, of which there are dozens in the area. The bicycle parking area is monitored, but storing property there is at each cyclist’s own risk. Charging electric bicycles is not possible.
