An aviation accident drill will take place at Kuopio Airport on Saturday, 23 April 2016. In the drill, an imaginary ATR-72 aircraft fails its landing run. The drill will begin at 9:00 am and will end by 5:00 pm.

The drill/training session is an exercise in cooperation between the authorities, with the main focus on first aid and logistics. The functionality of the airport’s rescue plan will also be tested.

The drill includes operators from the following organisations:

• Finavia Corporation
• Airpro Oy
• RTG Oy
• North Savo Rescue Department
• Defence Forces
• Police
• Safety Investigation Authority
• First aid centre of Kuopio University Hospital
• FinnHems
• Vapepa
• Savo Vocational College
• Ingman College of Crafts and Design

An approximate total of 150 people will attend the drill.

Please note that there may be frequent emergency vehicle traffic on the roads to the airport during the drill, and occasional smoke may occur in the airport area.

The drill may cause delays in recreational and training flight operations, but there will be no impact on passenger traffic.
