Unexpected walk out of the ground handling operator Swissport causes rush and delays at Helsinki Airport.

The sudden strike started today on 26th of February at 15:00 hrs. It affects widely on all ground handling operations, e.g. baggage handling.

Passengers are kindly asked to follow the real time flight data and get more information from their own airlines.

We are updating this page as soon as we get more information about how the strike will affect.

Finavia is not involved in the walk out. We apologize all the inconvenience that is caused to the passengers.


Update 18:00 Definition to the headline. The walk out affects flights operated eg. by Finnair, Qatar Airways, Lufthansa, Turkish Airlines and EasyJet

Update 19:09: Finnair has published passenger information and guidance at their website

Update 19:31: Due to the cancelled and/or delayed flights, there is congestion at baggage claim area, arrivals hall and airline service points. Finavia personnel is giving guidance and assistance to passengers at the mentioned areas.

Update 27.2.2020 07:11: Baggage operations are operational, but there is a large amount of baggage at the airport to be handled due to the events yesterday. Some delays to certain Finnair flights departing this morning.
