“We are pleased to see Wizz Air expanding its route offering at Turku Airport! The new route to Bucharest, along with the upcoming route to Vilnius in December, opens up exciting new opportunities for travelers and businesses in Turku and the surrounding areas,” says Petri Vuori, Senior Vice President, Route Development at Finavia.
The new route will be operated twice a week, on Mondays and Fridays.
The inaugural flight was celebrated at Turku Airport with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and coffee and cake served to passengers and stakeholders. Upon landing at Turku Airport, the aircraft received a ceremonial water salute.

Several new routes have opened at Turku Airport this year. Earlier this year, airline SAS also launched a route between Copenhagen and Turku.
Wizz Air has previously operated flights from Turku to destinations such as Rome, Skopje, Krakow, and Budapest. Currently, it operates scheduled flights from Turku to Gdansk.
The newly launched Bucharest route will be flown with a 239-seat Airbus A321neo aircraft.
