We all have our own airport-related memories, emotions, and expectations. Many associate airports with an excited, anticipatory mood that might start bubbling to the surface on the journey to the airport. For some, the holiday starts with anticipation of that glass of champagne and all that nicely priced tax-free shopping, while others might begin theirs with a relaxed lunch before heading to the gate and boarding.
Thanks to an investment project kicked off at the beginning of the year, Helsinki Airport continues to develop its facilities and services. Our aim is to be able to meet your expectations better and better. In the coming months and years, plenty will be new at the airport: new operators and international brands will arrive alongside our established Finnish top names.
Our aim is to have everything to everybody.
Our goal is still to offer the best of natural Finnish food and showcase Finnish design and fashion. Now, however, Helsinki Airport will become more like Finland in miniature, a place where great appreciation for Finnish traditions is accompanied by an increasingly international flavour.
Our aim is not so much to offer something for everybody as it is to have everything for everybody!
One example of the service improvement in the pipeline is the new security checkpoint to be opened in Terminal 2. The objective is to get all passengers through the security checks in under 15 minutes. And we will make your trip still faster before summer is out: Terminal 2 will greet you with new check-in kiosks and bag-drop points, for a smooth start to your journey as soon as you arrive.
These developments are part of a 900-million-euro investment project that should take us all the way to 2020. By then, we estimate, the number of travellers full of excitement and expectation who have made Helsinki Airport part of their journey will have reached the milestone of 20 million.
