You never need to leave Helsinki Airport hungry, and this winter many well-known dishes have been given a Finnish twist.

Helsinki Sausage Co., at gates 37–38, is a small no-frills restaurant with a menu of modern, quality fast food.

Their traditional hot dogs use meaty sausages produced by small Finnish companies and tasty artisanal breads.

At the moment, the favourites seem to be hot dogs made with 'Finnish Makkara' (Finnish sausage) from Helsingin Makkaratehdas (7.40 EUR) and 'Lammasmakkara' (lamb sausage) from Vehmaan Maut (8.40 EUR). You can also opt for gourmet burgers.

Reindeer burger – a novelty for many

At Gate 27, Fly Inn Restaurant & Deli prepares reindeer in novel ways to celebrate the winter season. Served with country-style chips, the Fly Inn Poroburger (25.00 EUR) boasts Finnish reindeer meat, Cheddar cheese from a small producer, deep-fried onion, and truffle mayonnaise.

And if you have a bit more time on your hands, why not try Fly Inn's reindeer sirloin and stewed reindeer entrecôte served with dark applesauce and artichokes (32.00 EUR)?

If you'd prefer a quick winter snack, Fly Inn offers a tasty leek–potato soup flavoured with tarragon and served with a rye baguette (small: 12.50 EUR, large: 16.00 EUR).

That Finnish feeling

The Almost@home lounge, right after passport control and near the transfer desk in the long-haul area, re-creates the feeling of an authentic Finnish home.

In an atmosphere furnished with Finnish design items, the kitchen offers a menu of seasonal Finnish specialities and delicacies, along with drinks. Come and enjoy the offerings of this cosy lounge!
