Lufthansa introduces yet another connection to the north of Finland. Lufthansa has operated direct flights from Central Europe to Lapland Airports in Finland already for two successful years.

This is the first ever direct international flight route to Kuusamo Airport which is one of the famous Lapland Airports, operated by Finavia. Lufthansa will operate this scheduled flight route from Frankfurt during winter 2017–2018 from December 23rd to March 24th.

“We are very pleased that Kuusamo is being added to Lufthansa’s range of routes. This further strengthens our airport network in Northern Finland. The growth started when Lufthansa began its first direct flights flights from Germany to Lapland in 2015. Last year, good development in the North continued as Lufthansa opened new routes and significantly increased passenger capacity – together we created a wonderful winter for tourism. We wish Lufthansa a warm welcome to Kuusamo Airport in December 2017”, says Finavia’s Senior Vice President Joni Sundelin.

“We are very pleased to announce the opening of the Kuusamo route. This shows our commitment to Finland and its important region. Besides Helsinki, Ivalo and Kittilä, Kuusamo will be the fourth destination in Finland we will be serving from Germany. We are about to reach the midsummer days but it is not too early wishing our customers already now a lovely winterseason”, says Christopher Zimmer, General Manager Sales, Finland & Baltic States at Lufthansa.

Kuusamo is known for its unique nature and broad selection of winter activities. Northern lights, huskies, reindeer, snowmobiles, saunas, skiing and many other adventures are pampering the guests.
