In July, please come to the airport well in advance of your departure, as passenger volumes are higher during the summer holiday season and health security measures take time.

During the summer holiday season, you should set aside sufficient time for pre-departure procedures at Helsinki Airport. Please come to the airport well in advance of your departure and set aside enough time for check-in procedures, baggage check-in and security controls – even if you are taking a domestic flight.

Traffic volumes are high during the summer season and the number of passengers is highest in the morning between 6AM and 9AM and in the afternoon between 3PM and 6PM.

While you are at the airport, please wear a face mask, use hand sanitiser and maintain safe distances as well as good coughing hygiene. Follow the instructions issued by airport personnel and the authorities.

Before you start your journey, make sure that your baggage is packed correctly and familiarise yourself with the requirements of your airline and destination country in advance. Check the travel restrictions in effect in your destination country well in advance of your journey.

Also check with your airline to find out what travel documents you need to bring. Some airlines require, for example, a COVID-19 vaccination certificate, a certificate of a previous COVID-19 infection or a negative COVID-19 test.

Also take the time to find out what else you need to take into consideration when you travel during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Pack your baggage correctly

When you pack your bags, check our instructions on what you can bring in your hand baggage and what items can be carried in the cargo hold. Prepare to take any battery-powered electronic devices out of your bag at the security control.

Reserve parking in advance

You can reserve parking in advance at Helsinki Airport. The earlier you make your parking reservation, the cheaper it is. Reserve parking in the P3 Premium or P5 parking garage to be as close to the airport terminal as possible. Both are equipped with charging points for electric cars.

Drop off passengers in front of Terminal 1

The passenger drop-off and pick-up zone at Helsinki Airport is located in front of Terminal 1. When you drop off passengers at the airport, you can park in the P3 short-term parking area, which is a short walk from the terminal. Terminals 1 and 2 are reserved for passengers and staff during the COVID-19 pandemic, therefore we ask you to pick up and drop off passengers outside the terminal, or to wait in your car.
