Niko Syrjä started work as the Airport Manager of Pori Airport on 1 August 2023. Syrjä transfers to his new position from the role of Helsinki Airport maintenance’s Shift Manager. As the Airport Manager of Pori Airport, Niko is responsible for the management of the airport’s operational functions and the relations with other airport operators and the stakeholders in the area.

“We are very happy that a new Airport Manager for Pori Airport was found in house. Niko Syrjä has been gaining valuable expertise in the airport environment for more than 10 years, and he is also familiar with Pori Airport,” says Juha Aaltonen, Finavia’s Regional Director.

It is important for Finavia that every employee can develop their skills and have a wide range of career options within the company. In addition to his work at Finavia, Niko Syrjä has, among other things, completed a further vocational qualification in airport maintenance and is about to graduate with a bachelor’s degree in civil and environmental engineering from the South-Eastern Finland University of Applied Sciences.

“We want to retain our highly skilled personnel and invest in career path development. At Helsinki Airport, Niko advanced from the position of a maintenance professional to a Shift Manager, and now he has started work as Pori Airport’s Airport Manager,” says Aaltonen.
