Finnair will offer three weekly services to Miami next winter. Operated with Airbus A340, the services will begin on 16 December 2014 with two weekly services on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The third service, a Saturday departure, will be launched on 3 January 2015. The three services will operate until 21 March 2015.

The flights depart from Helsinki at 9.55 to arrive in Miami at 14.05. The returning flight from Miami depart at 16.45, arriving in Helsinki the next morning at 8.50. The flight time from Helsinki to Miami is 11 hours and from Miami to Helsinki approximately one hour less. The Miami route has good connecting services from Finnair’s domestic as well as Estonian and Swedish routes.

Miami is one of the best winter holiday destinations in the USA: it offers experiences and activities for everyone and at that time of the year the weather is usually beautiful. The best theme and amusement parks in the United States, such as Disney World and SeaWorld, are within driving distance. There are wide stretches of magnificent sandy beaches in the close vicinity of Miami. Florida also boasts one of the best golf courses in the world and the Everglades National Park.

Miami offers easy connections to the Caribbean. Nearly all major islands are directly serviced from Miami and Miami is also the biggest hub in the USA for flights to South and Central America.

“Miami and southern Florida are long-standing favourites among Finns and in the winter season we offer a direct route to the warm climes of Miami. There is a great number of Finns living in the area, too, and the direct connections are an excellent addition to the code-share flights operated by our oneworld partners. The direct route also opens up an opportunity to market Finland and Lapland as a winter travel destination to Americans,” says Pekka Vauramo, President and CEO of Finnair.

The Helsinki–Miami route is part of its collaboration with American Airlines, British Airways and Iberian Atlantic. Customers will benefit from more flexible choice of routes and the possibility to combine flights of four different airlines. This will help customers plan their travel with improved timing and bring savings in price.
